A Message From the Principal

Welcome to our Mt St Patrick College website, my name is Gavin Dykes, and I am looking forward to commencing as Principal of the college in 2024. Mt St Patrick College has a wonderful reputation in the wider community and this website reflects the many possibilities that are awaiting students and families of the region.

Information on this site provides details of the unique features and benefits of a Mt St Patrick College education. I hope you enjoy your tour and find it both informative and enjoyable.

Mt St Patrick College, Murwillumbah, is a co-educational Catholic College offering six years of secondary education leading to the Higher School Certificate. The College has a current enrolment of 745 students and employs 57 lay teaching staff and 18 lay non-teaching staff.

The College was founded by the Presentations Sisters in 1926. We are particularly proud of our long history and the major role the Presentation sisters have played in the College for ninety years. Our past has inspired a wonderful sense of responsibility and ownership in our students and a desire to publicly proclaim the College as their own.

Mt St Patrick College is a community of opportunity. We take pride in the comprehensive education we offer students of the Tweed Valley. Our academic results are the best in the area and among the best in the State. We offer a broad range of spiritual, cultural and sporting experiences and encourage practices that allow all students to experience success.

Mt St Patrick College has a strong and active Pastoral Care Program. We strongly believe that students must feel happy, valued and safe in their teaching and learning environment before they can progress academically. An active vertical House structure supports our Pastoral Care Program.

The teachers of Mt St Patrick College are dedicated, hard-working and committed to their vocation of teaching and learning. Extensive professional development in digital technology has allowed teachers to fully engage in the one-to-one laptop program that exists at the College. Inspirational teaching and quality learning are the cornerstones of the College.

Mt St Patrick College is extremely fortunate to have undertaken an extensive building program in recent years that has ensured that our teaching and learning environment is of the highest standard.

This website contains more detailed information on many of the points mentioned in this introduction. Please feel free to contact the College if further information is required.
